Graduate Studies
Medieval and Early Modern graduate studies is booming at OU. Upon arrival on campus, our graduate students have the opportunity to explore their interests in a broad range of Medieval and Renaissance Literature courses before narrowing their focus. The English Department is committed to the scholarly and professional development of our students. Funding is available for research and conferences through the University, Graduate College and the English Department—and our job placement rate for PhD graduates is among the best in the country.
M.A. or Ph.D. students working on medieval literature are also eligible for the Rudolph C. Bambas Memorial Scholarship. This award, of approximately $2,000 per year, was established by Dr. Frieda Derdeyn Bambas in memory of her husband Rudolph Bambas, a former professor of Anglo-Saxon at OU’s English Department. Applicants should be sure to mention interest in the scholarship in their applications.
